OUR STORY

The Lodge, built in 1940 as a hunting lodge, is one of the last remaining authentic lodging facilities in the Chilcotin, and, in fact, in the whole of BC. In the early days, the Lodge also served as Riske Creek's post office and general store. It has always been a refuge for travellers.

A FIRST CLASS WESTERN EXPERIENCE

Built in 1940, the Chilcotin Lodge is one of the last remaining authentic frontier lodges in British Columbia. With its homey atmosphere and western hotel style, you'll think you've stepped back in time. This lodge was featured on the CBC TV series "Cariboo Country" in 1961.

The charming lodge has 10 nicely decorated bedrooms on the second storey. In keeping with the lodge's frontier style, each room has a wash basin and there are two shared bathrooms along the hallway, one with a shower/bath and one with an antique tub.

The lodge has a cozy, private dining room and is fully-licensed, featuring British Columbia wine and beers. Included in the price of the room is a full country breakfast.

Kurt & Brenda Van Ember became the new owners of the Lodge in Spring 2017, and are looking forward to being your hosts. Welcome to The Historic Chilcotin Lodge!

Throughout the area you may spot California Bighorn Sheep, black and grizzly bear, coyote, fox, timber wolf, lynx, moose, deer, cougar and even a few herds of wild horses. Bird species include waterfowl such as Canada goose, duck, loon, white pelican and many more. The plateau is the migration route for sandhill crane, bald eagle and pelican. This is also home for many other birds of prey and a wide variety of smaller birds.
